Modern Mariner's Compass Strip Pieced Robin Long
What started as a quest to make a Mariner’s Compass quilt for her submarine officer husband, Robin Long took an idea she had in 1992 and launched Robin Ruth Design in 2015. She has developed a line of revolutionary rulers, books, patterns, and technique for making STRIP PIECED mariner’s compass blocks and projects – that’s right, NO PAPER PIECING! Robin has become an internationally known quilt teacher and gives classes across the country. She also is a sought-after quilt designer for fabric companies such asFreeSpirit, Windham, and Clothworks. Her quilts have been in many shows including International Quilt Festival, QuiltCon, and Road to California. She loves to travel and her creative inspiration comes from the art, architecture, and nature that she experiences along the way. Her travel and creative designs come together under her ever-popular hashtag #wherewillyourcompasstakeyou as she encourages others to give her rulers a try for their own creative expression. Her products are sold in quilt shops across the U.S. and around the world. When she’s not on the quilt trail, you might find Robin on the cattle trail at her family’s cattle ranch near Ritzville, WA where she and husband, David, recently moved back to and built a new home. You might find her out working cattle on her quarter horse, Major, or mustang, Mitey, or in her new sewing studio dreaming up her next creative project to bring the mariner’s compass into the 21st century! Tina Craig Versatility of EPP
I started quilting in 1990 as an unemployed newlywed looking for something to do. I too a beginner sampler quilt class at Colchester Mill Fabric Store and haven't stopped stitching yet. I try to challenge myself to learn something new with every quilt. When we moved to a seaside town in southern Rhode Island in 1997, Seaside Stitches was born. Back then, I was making and selling hundreds of paper-pieced quilt block lapel pins. Now, I prefer to teach you how to make your own! I specialize in precision piecing (foundation paper piecing and English paper piecing) and domestic machine quilting. I enjoy learning new techniques and have even stepped out of my comfort zone to try art quilting. Thankfully, virtual workshops have opened up a whole new world to quilt teachers and students. I love traveling to quilt guilds, but will continue to be available on Zoom. My trunk shows are engaging and fun. Every quilt I show has a story to tell. Most of my workshops are technique-based, so students leave with knowledge that translates to many future projects. I am a member of Ninigret Quilters, Narragansett Bay Quilters Association, and The Modern Quilt Guild. I have been honored to have won awards in local and regional shows including Best of Show at Ninigret Quilters 2013, 2017, 2023 and Narragansett Bay Quilters Assoc 2016. My work has also been exhibited at Mid-Atlantic Quilt Festival, World Quilt New England, and QuiltCon Together 2021. Celtic Valentine was awarded a handwork ribbon at Mid-Atlantic Quilt Festival in 2024. Poppies, Poppies is a finalist in the 2024 Cherrywood Challenge. Versatility of English Paper Piecing: Take a look beyond Grandmother's Flower Garden to see all the possibilities of this hand piecing technique. From different shapes and sizes to improv and 3-dimensional projects, this trunk show may inspire a myriad of design options for your next quilt. Tina's enthusiasm for EPP is infectious! For more info go to Tina’s website: seaside-stitches.com Lecture may be recorded and access provided to members for 2 weeks following live broadcast.

Karen Dever
Fabricologist Anonymous
Karen, an award-winning quilter, has been involved with quilting for over 20 years and is a
teacher, designer and an AQS Certified quilt appraiser. She presently works and teaches at The Village Quilter Quilt Shop in Mt. Holly, NJ. She has had several designs published in McCall's, For the Love of Quilting and Quilter's Newsletter. For many years she has been collecting antique and vintage textiles. Currently, she is a member of many guilds, professional quilt groups, and quilt study groups. Karen lectures to guilds on changes in our quilting styles through the years, and the importance of appraisals. A new lecture on the topic of collecting quilts has been added. Karen has a B.A. degree from Glassboro College (now known as Rowan University) in Glassboro, NJ and a Master's degree from Temple University in Philadelphia, Pa. When asked about her work, Karen says, "A deep love of history and quilting was the beginning of my journey. That journey spans over twenty years involving designing quilts, conducting workshops, lecturing, creating competition quilts and the publication of my designs. My journey has allowed me to transfer my passion into a new career; from the creation of new designs, and the dating of antique, vintage textiles to viewing contemporary fiber art - where each tells its own story. My experiences have covered a range of fields within the quilt world." I admit I belong to FA and am a longtime member. Are you? The problem is I love fabric and I have a lot of it! Come learn how to organize, and use your fabric collection in this lecture through power point and quilt examples.
